Why we built this

“My nephew was born in Australia. On his first trip to Nepal, he learned to bow in the prayer room and picked up Nepali words. Back home, that connection started to fade.”

Millions of Nepali children abroad know this feeling — in Australia, the US, the UK, the Gulf, Japan, and beyond. They grow up without Dashain, dal bhat, or the Himalayas. Hamro Katha — “our story”— uses the oldest teaching tool there is, a bedtime story, to hand that culture back to the next generation. We're starting in Australia and growing to reach every one of them.

Loved by families like yours

My daughter asks for 'the yak story' every night now — and she's started using Nepali words we never taught her.
SSunitaSydney, Australia
Finally something that feels like home for the kids. The Dashain story made my son ask about his hajurama in Kathmandu.
PPrakashMelbourne, Australia
Simple enough that my 3-year-old drives it herself, and beautiful enough that I actually enjoy reading along.

Questions parents ask

Do I need an account to try it?

No. Tap 'Explore as a guest' and you can read every story right away. You only need a free account to add your child's profile and save favourites.

What ages is this for?

Hamro Katha is designed for children aged 2 to 6. Each page has one short sentence and a big illustration — perfect for little attention spans and early readers.

My child was born overseas and doesn't speak Nepali. Will this help?

That's exactly who we built it for. Stories are in English with Nepali woven in naturally, so children absorb words and culture without any formal lessons — no matter where they're growing up.

I'm not in Australia. Can I still use it?

Absolutely. We're launching first in Australia, but Hamro Katha works anywhere in the world. Join the waitlist and you'll be first to know as we roll out more where you are.

Is it really free?

Yes. During our early access every story is free to read, with no credit card. Premium features like personalization and narration are coming later as optional paid add-ons.

What is personalization?

A premium feature (coming soon) where you upload a photo and your child becomes the hero of the story — their face in the illustrations.

Which cultures do you cover?

We're starting with Nepal and the Nepali diaspora. Indian, Sri Lankan, Bangladeshi, Filipino and more are on the roadmap.
